Booking A Tour FAQ

Can I add more people to the reservation after I booked?2022-04-19T12:32:40+00:00

Our system doesn’t allow changing the number of people after booking. We kindly ask you to cancel your reservation via the link in your confirmation email and make a new booking for the extra people, if enough spots are available.

If the tour is full, we can’t manually add more people for you. We have a strict maximum of people and risk getting a fine if we exceed. Consider booking a tour on another date or time.

How do I know if my booking is received?2022-05-10T08:19:41+00:00

After choosing your date & time and entering your name & email address, you are taken to this screen:

Make sure to click on the BOOK NOW button to confirm your submission. If your booking is recorded, you will see this screen:

An email is sent to your email address for further reference.

Didn’t receive anything? There are several possibilities why this happens:

  • The email address was entered with a typo
  • The confirmation email is recognized as spam (check your spam folder!)
  • Our booking system isn’t working correctly.

No worries, your booking is surely recorded if you saw the screen above. If you wish to receive the details anyway, please send us an email.

Why is a tour date/time not available in the booking calendar?2022-03-19T13:34:22+00:00

All tours for this date are fully booked. Try one of our other tours, like the cultural Alternative Tour, scrumptious Food Tour or spooky Dark Side Tour.

If you really want to come on this date and have a larger group, consider taking a Private Walking Tour of Amsterdam. You can enjoy Amsterdam and your own private guide for your party!

Can I reserve the tour for more than 4 people?2022-03-19T13:09:18+00:00

Our booking system allows reservations for a maximum of 4 people per booking. Our experience has showed us that other attendees appreciate smaller groups within the tour, to keep the tour up to speed and because it’s easier to make new friends between smaller groups. We kindly ask you to respect this.

If you are visiting with a larger group, consider booking a Private Walking Tour. You will have full attention of your own guide and it leaves more space for improvisation during the tour.

Still wish to join a Free Tour with a group larger than 4 people? If we have enough availability, you can make multiple reservations in our booking system under the same name and email address.

Can I change or cancel the reservation?2022-03-19T13:22:37+00:00

No problem! You can cancel the tour in your confirmation email through this button:

You can make a new reservation on your preferred date & time. If you need further assistance, send us an email.

The Best Way To Experience The Dutch Culture, Is To Taste It

Wander around Amsterdam’s historic neighborhoods, while trying Dutch local specialties. Find out why Amsterdammers eat 17 kilos (!) of cheese every year and on which special occasion we serve ‘biscuits with mice’. Food is a great way to learn from each other’s culture. Let us share our peculiar eating habits and crazy flavors that the Dutch couldn’t live without.

Tasters on this free Amsterdam tour:

  • Poffertjes | Mini-pancakes that you will only find in the Netherlands. A single poffertjes contains as much butter as a whole pancake, so why not slather it with icing sugar and.. more butter!
  • Gouda cheese | The world-famous cheese from the Netherlands. During the Free Food Tour, you will understand why Dutchies are known as kaaskoppen (cheese heads) and how Holland became so renowned for its cheese.
  • Drop | The  number 1 national treat. Try this tongue-twisting variety of licorice and discover where it originated from. Love it or hate it, you haven’t experienced Holland if you haven’t tried ‘drop’.
  • Herring | Straight from the North Sea, served raw and sprinkled with onions. Try this typically Dutch staple and learn what this pungent appetizer meant for the economy of Holland in the 16th century.
  • Stroopwafel | Once you’ve tried this beloved Dutch cookie, you will never again even look at the bulgy Belgian derivative. The best one is a fresh one and on the Free Food Tour we will tell you where to get them!
  • Bitterballen | A bite-size snack, best enjoyed with a cold beer! Our lovely tour ends at the Poolbar, where you can enjoy the last taster -while playing Dutch games and enjoying local beer.

Yes, all the food is included in the tour, we go to different shops where we get or buy the tasters for you.
Not all tasters are vegetarian, but 80% of the tasters you can enjoy. So do join the tour as a vegetarian!
Yes, just like the other tours, the food tour is a Free Walking Tour where you get to set the price. Most people give €10,- per person if the tour feels good. But it is all up to you, In this way anyone can join no matter your budget.
