Marius is very personable and runs a very good tour. We did the Amsterdam food tour with him. Delicious little bites of food, with many stories that gave us a really good sense of the history of the city. The tour was well paced, relaxed and fun. We would recommend it as a way of getting to know this beautiful city.

The food tour by Free Walking tours was just outstanding! Nadine, who led the group, was extremely knowledgeable and had a great rapport with all the shops we visited. From herring to cheese, we covered most of Amsterdam’s iconic foodstuffs. We tried Dutch pancakes and stroop waffles. This was another wonderful day spent with Nadine as she hosted our classic/historic Amsterdam tour yesterday. Definitely worth your time.

This tour is as informative as you choose it to be, Nadine, as a native, is so knowledgeable about the Dutch culture, in addition to kind and thoughtful. She took us to try herring from a really traditional place, we also tried stroopwafel that is served warm, mini pancakes, peppernuts and cheese, warm drink was included which was very welcomed and I am so glad considering we did this on our first day. Considering the amount you pay you get quite a few bites, she also gave us some samples of traditional cookies, chocolate, liquorice, beer and even mints. Overall a very nice experience if you are looking for some guidance into what you should look for during your hols to experience traditional food.

Just finished the food tour with Sebastiaan - wow! What a fantastic experience. A great combination of history, culture and delicious food. The herring was probably my favorite 🐟🥰 Sebastiaan really made the history of the city come alive, and knew so many interesting facts and connections about Dutch and US history combined. 10/10 highly recommend this tour.

Shout-out to Krijn who pivoted well when the regular stop for bitterballen wasn’t able to make them for some reason.

A few tips:
- This food tour covers quite a lot of Dutch “staples” so you may not want lunch afterwards.
- It’s not really “free” in the sense that you do pay for the food samples upfront when you book (it’s pretty reasonable though).
- Bring cash to tip your guide!

The next day we did the Dark Side Amsterdam tour with Alessio.  Again: absolutely wonderful and entertaining.  Highly recommended!!!

Both tours are a must....!

The tour is full of ghost stories and dark histories of Amsterdam, definitely not for the faint of heart. He gave us a lot of insights into the history and architecture of Amsterdam, and we had a good time. Unfortunately we originally booked the Dark Side Tour, but because there weren’t enough people we were switched to the Classic Tour. It was better than not getting to do a tour at all, but we were still a little disappointed to not have been able to hear more about the Dark Side of Amsterdam. Nevertheless Sebastian had a lot of fun and in-depth historical facts for us and we had some good laughs!

I did the Dark Side Tour with Misha (2/28/26) and the Classic Tour with Yazmin (3/4/26). Both tour guides were locals, friendly, very knowledgeable about the subject matter and open to questions. Would recommend these tours and these guides!

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Took the Dark Side tour with Misael.  It was an interesting tour that had a fair amount of stops and stories.  Misael was entertaining, knowledgeable, and funny.  He was personable and chatted up the walkers from stop to stop.  I enjoyed learning about the Dark Side of Amsterdam and would join this tour company for any of their walks.  It is a tip based service - bring cash for your guide (some do have credit card readers, but not all).
