Booking A Tour FAQ
Does the tour enter the Anne Frank House?
No, the tour does not include entry to the Anne Frank House, as tour operators are strictly prohibited from entering the building. Be careful of scammers offering tours that claim to include access to the house.
However, this tour is a perfect complement to your visit. It offers a unique perspective on the story of Anne Frank and her family, focusing on the events before and around their time in hiding. It is also a great alternative if Anne Frank House tickets are no longer available.
For more information about visiting the Anne Frank House, please visit our separate Anne Frank website. There you will find a comprehensive guide on how to get tickets and what to expect during your visit.
Can I reserve the tour for more than 6 people?
Reservations for the Free Walking Tour Amsterdam are limited to a maximum of 6 people per booking. We keep our groups small to ensure the best possible experience for everyone.
The maximum group size for guided tours in Amsterdam is 15 people. Smaller groups make it easier for everyone to hear the guide, ask questions, and enjoy the stories along the way. It also creates a more relaxed and social atmosphere for travelers exploring the city together.
What happens if I make multiple reservations?
If you make several reservations to try to bring a larger group on the Free Walking Tour Amsterdam, we unfortunately won’t be able to take the extra participants. Those spots may instead be given to other travelers who are waiting to join the tour.
Can larger groups join the tour?
If you are traveling with more than 6 people, we recommend booking a private walking tour in Amsterdam. This allows your group to have a guide dedicated entirely to you and to choose a time that fits your schedule.
For group bookings we offer private tours here:

This way your group can still enjoy a great experience while keeping our Free Walking Tour Amsterdam comfortable and enjoyable for everyone.
Can I do both the Classic Tour and the Anne Frank Tour?
Yes, you can. In fact, all our tours offer different perspectives, and you can easily combine them to make the most of your time in Amsterdam.
The Classic Tour briefly touches on World War II but focuses more on the origins of Amsterdam and the Dutch Golden Age. The Anne Frank Tour, on the other hand, goes much deeper into the impact of World War II and Jewish life in the city during the 1930s and 1940s.
You can even join multiple tours in one day. However, we recommend planning no more than two tours per day and leaving some time in between. All our tours last about 2 hours and start and end at Dam Square, making them easy to fit into your day.
Do I need to sign up for the tour?
We highly recommend booking in advance.
Our tours often fill up quickly, and each guide can only take a limited number of guests. By booking, you secure your spot and receive all the important information about the tour, including tips on how to prepare.
You can also join as a walk in if there are still places available. However, to make sure you have a spot, it is best to book in advance. Secure your place now and we will see you soon on Dam Square.
Is the Anne Frank Tour suitable for children?
Absolutely.
We believe the story of Anne Frank offers an important and valuable lesson for future generations. While the topic is tragic and can be emotional, it provides a meaningful historical perspective.
That said, we understand that younger children may find it difficult to stay engaged with such a heavy topic for an extended period. It is therefore good to consider their attention span and emotional readiness before deciding.
